"Moaning Lisa Smile"—the latest single by North London quartet Wolf Alice—is a dopey guitar jam that exists somewhere between the hollowed-out rock sounds of Warpaint and Hole. The track's official video, which Wolf Alice says was inspired by iconic tween Lisa Simpson, follows an ostracized high-school dancer (played by lead vocalist Ellie Rowsell) who is rejected by snobby peers before finding a clique that lets her be herself. The happy ending is set during a climactic dance competition and has a shimmery, thrifted "Miss World" vibe to it. Wolf Alice's Creature Songs EP is out today via Dirty Hit Records.
