Yesterday after work, I heard the guy who sells fitted hats and I Sam Smith's gospel-inflected "Stay With Me" on full blast, so it's safe to say that song is on its way to becoming a massive hit. The sensitive crooner brought the track to The Late Show last night, backup choir in tow, and performed a pretty chills-inducing version; it was good enough to make Letterman gush like a proud father ("Oh my god. That was beautiful.") Smith's new record, In The Lonely Hour, is out now on Capitol. In our current Summer Music issue, on newstands July 8th, cover star Smith opens up about life, fame and unrequited love. You can read the interview online right here.
