The LA-based producers behind dance label Body High have been busy. Fresh off of teasing their upcoming DJ Dodger Stadium album, Friend of Mine, with the release of two soaring aerial videos, Jerome LOL and Samo Sound Boy have already stepped into the merch game. The Body High label bosses, who along with Nick Meledandri of We Did It co-founded online storefront Kings 99, know better than anyone the power merch has to grow small emerging labels. "The original Body High shirt turned tons of people onto our label and our music that wouldn't have found it otherwise," says Samo Sound Boy. "People would see the shirt first and then try to find out where it came from and what it represents."
The limited edition DJ Dodger Stadium shirt, a collaboration with LA artist/director/author/musician Cali Thornhill Dewitt, represents a departure from the first t-shirt's blocky blue to yellow fade. “We had known about and admired Dewitt’s work for a long time,” Samo Sound Boy says of the collaboration. “We gave him a copy of the album and then waited to see what he came up with. It turned out to be just as weird and lonely and mysterious as the music.” The resulting shirt, a black pocket tee that features the Friend of Mine's tracklist in Dewitt’s signature gothic scrawl, will be sold at the DJ Dodger Stadium's LA and NY album release parties in July, and then exclusively on Kings 99.
