Over the past few months, former Girls frontman Christopher Owens has been teasing his sophomore solo LP with a couple of unassuming singles posted to his Soundcloud account. After sharing the lilting "It Comes Back to You" and the gospel-tinged "Stephen," Owens has returned today with the full details of that album, titled A New Testament, and a charming little video for a new single called "Nothing More Than Everything to Me."
Owens' follow-up to Lysandre features the return of John Anderson, Darren Weiss, and Danny Eisenberg who he collaborated with on later Girls releases. According to the San Francisco-based songwriter, the new record draws on "the fundamentals of American music—Gospel, Country, R&B," a fact that's evident in the twangy new track he's shared today. A New Testament is due September 30 on Turnstile. Watch the video for "Nothing More Than Everything to Me," which features Owens and his band playing a middle school dance, above.
