Atlanta rapper/singer/producer/savant Makonnen stole our hearts this summer, with an intoxicating ear for melody, sweet-and-sour songwriting landing somewhere between The-Dream and Lil B, and woozy, truck rattling beats from all the best producers in Atlanta, like if Gucci Mane recorded a mixtape in the Adventure Time universe. Cosigns flooded in from those who got it, furrowed brows from those who didn't. But your adoption rate may not matter anymore: last night, Drake instagrammed a photo from our OVO Fest recap with the caption "Goin up on a Tuesday," and soon after, he dropped his own spin on Makonnen's most noteworthy track to date. Drake tests his range, inching his way up toward Makonnen's skyscraper falsetto while celebrating the same no-days-off grind that embodies the record.
