Canadian producer Babe Rainbow, who we last saw giving out avocado cutting tips back in May, has recorded an album of gentle piano sketches for cassette label 1080p called, with a characteristic wink, Music for 1 Piano, 2 Pianos, & More Pianos. There's nothing tongue-in-cheek about the music, though—take "YHIM," for example. It meanders with purpose, notes falling with a keen and open curiosity. It marks a change in direction for Babe Rainbow's Cameron Reed, who only paid the piano more attention over his laptop compositions in the lead-up to his jaunt on tour as part of How To Dress Well's band in 2012. Subsequently, "YHIM" is raw and naive but all the more delightful for that.
