When one-time FADER cover star Nika Roza Danilova aka Zola Jesus stopped by The FADER to play songs from her new album, "Go (Blank Sea)" was one that stood out. While speaking afterwards, I asked her if the track—which references a nondescript "downtown" on its titanic chorus—was about Seattle, where she's been living lately. "It’s just about the feeling of being downtown in a sea of people, but at the same time you feel completely alone," Danilova told me. "It's just this idea of being a human in a civilized world and how it doesn’t really mean anything. It still feels savage in a weird way." The song, streaming below, is like that: civilized and pop-oriented, but a little bit savage, too. Taiga is out October 7th on Mute. This fall, she's headed out on tour with eclectic support from artists like Operators, Leech, The-Drum, Suicide's Martin Rev and Lee Bannon; those dates are below.
