Since 2005, Brooklyn, New York, has been the home of the Afropunk festival, which marked its 10th anniversary this past summer with performances by artists including D'Angelo, Bad Brains and Lianne La Havas, along with a tribute to the late DJ Rashad. Now Afropunk's organizers are starting a second event in Atlanta from October of next year. To celebrate the occasion, an Atlanta kick-off party will be held this Sunday October 5th at an undisclosed location, featuring performances by SZA, Sofakingevil, Hollyweerd, and Baby Baby; works by Atlanta's visual artists will also be represented at the bash. The official lineup for Atlanta leg of the Afropunk 2015 event hasn't been announced yet, but given that Atlanta is packed with hip-hop royalty, it's guaranteed to be awesome. In the meantime, you can relive some of the moments from the 2014 edition of Afropunk in Brooklyn by checking out photos taken by The FADER's Sam Clarke.
