The Bug Is Coming to a US Town near You, plus Watch This Vital Video Medley
his just-released Angels & Devils.
The Bug’s calling card is essentially taking the essence of pure dread from decades of UK music, from dancehall to grime, and bringing it to bear on the current state of late capitalism in crisis. He does this with extreme skill and clarity of vision, churning out anthems that are very likely to resonate with anyone who reads the news. He’s just put out an album, Angels & Devils, that felt like it was taking over the internet for a little while there but he’s already back with a new release announcement: the Exit EP coming out through Ninja Tune on October 7th. While we wait on that, this video produced by Factory Fifteen features a medley of two of The Bug's LP tracks—“Function,” featuring Manga, and “Void,” featuring Liz Harris of Grouper—and is well worth your time. Certain things just need saying; things like “capitalism is destroying the world and you should be ethically concerned.” Check out the video above and see if he's coming to your city on his upcoming tour below.
