Run The Jewels Are Actually Going To Remake Their New Album Entirely Out Of Cat Sounds

In his recent FADER feature, ILoveMakonnen made a very succinct remark about where things are at these days: “It’s not about being marketable anymore, it’s about being unmarketable.” Makonnen’s observation definitely holds true for this almost too-good-to-be-true Run The Jewels spin-off, Meow The Jewels. The hip-hop duo had offered to "re-record [new album] RTJ2 using nothing but cat sounds for music," and now, following a Kickstarter campaign that's raised a kind of shocking $55,001, their label Mass Appeal has announced it's for real with the above video. According to the Kickstarter, Just Blaze and a bunch of other artists including Bauuer and Zola Jesus are also down to get involved. Mass Appeal with release Run The Jewels 2 on October 27.
