Update 4:45pm 11/19/14: At last, Rihanna speaks! In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Bad Gal RiRi let it slip that a new album might be arriving "very soon." "That's my hope," she said. "I'm really excited about the music that we've been working on, so I can't wait for everybody to hear it."
With her outpouring of press and Instagram activity lately, the world has steadily been getting hyped for Rihanna's mythical eighth studio album, known only right now as R8. This weekend, DJ Skee chipped away at the myth a little with some exclusive news on his Dash Radio show: apparently, we could be blessed with the follow-up to Unapologetic before the end of the year. Skee reports that the album is "closer than anyone realized, including her own record label," as Rihanna debuted 10 new tracks to label executives in New York City last week. And here's the kicker: one of those songs is reportedly called "I've Been Searching For Something To Ignite Me When I'm Alone."
Elsewhere, super-DJ Calvin Harris also told UK radio station Kiss FM last week that he's pretty sure R8 is due "like, really soon," and Ne-Yo told another UK station that he's heard some of the new RiRi material and that it's "absolutely incredible." Listen to the whole DJ Skee segment below.
