Toronto Raptors Hosted Drake Night Again
The Raptor’s Global Team Ambassador’s got jokes, and also maybe a mixtape on the way?
Last night, Raptors Global Ambassador Drake hosted his second annual Drake Night at Air Canada Center in Toronto. Attendees at the Raptors-Nets game were gifted with special Drake Night edition Raptors tees and were treated to especially colorful color commentary from the Boy himself. To wit: his player introductions, were delivered with added flare and peppered with fun facts—apparently, Raptors forward Amir Johnson recently got a tattoo of a Swiffer Wet Jet? OK! At halftime, the team's official DJ, DK 4Korners, played an all-Drake mix that included OVO wisecracker OB's "Schemin' Up." No lint rollers this year, but it otherwise seems to have been an all-around pretty cute and very Drake-y good time.
The real news out of the evening, however, came during an in-game interview with ESPN. After joking about the costly Kevin Durant incident, joking on a player's haircuts, and trying his hand at play-by-play commentary, Drake low-key alluded to the possibility of a new—and near—project. "Yeah, I'm working on some great things for the beginning of the year, just trying to keep people excited," he said. Check out that interview and DJ 4Korners all-Drake mix below, as well as his player announcements above.
