Joey Bada$$ Talked About The Malia Obama Pro Era Selfie On TV
“I was like, ‘What’s so special about this?’”
Last night, Flatbush rapper Joey Badass made an appearance on Bloomberg TV, where he talked about how he got started with his career—and, he also talked about that Malia Obama selfie of her wearing a Pro Era T-shirt. As he recounts in the above video, Joey first saw the selfie while he was in Australia—and what's more, he didn't even recognize that it was Malia Obama at first. "I saw a bunch of my friends posting this picture of this girl in this Pro Era shirt, and I'm like, 'What's so special about this?'...As I started reading the comments and the captions, I was like, 'ooooooh.'" Joey says that he made sure to repost the selfie afterwards—and we all know how that turned out.
UPDATE 1/22/15 2:59 p.m.: Joey gave an interview to Sway suggesting that the government's paying him some extra special attention since Malia Obama's selfie went viral: "My phone is tapped at the moment, yeah. When you have the leader of the free world's daughter wearing your shirts and all of that, I guess they start to investigate. They got my whole crib surrounded. I mean, I believe it. I don't sleep.
