Listen To “Smother,” Slutever’s Newest Bratty Headbanger

New grungy pop from the West Coast duo.

January 22, 2015

Slutever, the duo of Rachel Gagliardi and Nicole Snyder, have a new tape coming out, Almost Famous. Early taste "Smother" is the kind of fuzz-fueled headbanger we've come to expect from the pair, finding that stoned sweet spot between antagonizing and lovesick. According to Snyder, the song dawned on her pretty much fully-formed. "Two days before we were supposed to go in to the studio," she told told FADER over email, "I was banging my head against the wall, and "Smother" just kind of popped out. It was a crucial moment and an important song to help set the tone for the rest of the record. It's all the things we want in all of the songs we write: heavy, catchy, and structurally pop." Almost Famous, which drops February 17th, follows up Slutever's summer single "White Flag," and their split EP with tour-mates Girlpool.
