A master chameleon, Rihanna is known for constantly switching up her looks. There was the bantu-knots-and-green-lipstick look, the fairy PinkAnna phase, and, my personal fave, the flowing grey mane of BrrrAnna. Her latest incarnation, on the new cover of I-D Magazine, finds Rihanna dabbling in the 1990s tradition of bad-ass ladies. Styled by Alistair Mckimm, Rihanna rocks wide-set plaits, massive hoop earrings, and a heavy dose of lipliner that feels like a visual mash-up of West Coast chola, West Indian Patra, and, the patron saint of box braids, Janet Jackson in Poetic Justice. Check out her look below and get ready to see a slew of young fly girls in your neighborhood try to recreate it.
