Jesus Christ, Nick Jonas. When did you become so fucking weird? First, there was "Jealous," a white boy-Miguel-bite of a tune so delectably and impeccably now that Tinashe jumped on the remix; his self-titled solo LP from last year featured a few more 2010s-R&B hat-tips that had some people (okay, me) thinking that maybe Nick Jonas smokes a lot of weed? Stranger things have happened! Such as this cover of Kanye West's "Only One" that Nick J. put out into the atmosphere, going as far to tweet it at Kanye:
.@kanyewest I love this song so much I had to sing it myself... https://t.co/9pReJjwtVm

Whoa, Nick! That embodies "coming on strong," to the point where I just Googled "Nick Jonas coming on strong" to see if he has a song called "Coming On Strong." (He doesn't.) I gotta say, people covering Kanye songs is no big deal in the end—you can't throw a drink at a karaoke bar without hearing someone drunkenly warble I've come for mine, I got to shine—but this is an especially, uh, weird cover choice, since it's 'Ye essentially singing as his deceased mother to his daughter. Really personal stuff! Nick keeps it straight-laced and straightforward though, turning in a cover that is reverent because it has to be reverent. Props, I suppose.
