Hey kids, great news: Tyler, the Creator's previously teased app, which is called Golf Media, is available for download now. Its first content will launch on Wednesday at 9PM PST; last month, Tyler described it as an online media destination that would be: "basically my brain, in one place."
Golf Media can be downloaded from the Apple and Android app stores. To make a download of the app free, users can register for the service through golfwang.com, Tyler's manager Christian Clancy told The FADER. Those who sign up there will have access to two months of free programming, and will receive the inaugural issue of Golf Magazine, Tyler's upcoming print project. (Users who register directly through Apple and Android app stores will pay $4.99 per month.)
On what's to come from Golf Media, Clancy said: "It's a bunch of different things that are original, curated and constantly changing. Original series, content, live streaming, radio, tour stuff, golf wang, interactive and whatever other buzzwords that sound mildly annoying and marketing-like." Fans can opt out of the service any point, Clancy said, but he hopes the app will have earned the loyalty of those who register today by the end of their two-month trial.
"At the end of the day," Clancy explained, "[Golf Media is] an opportunity to jump in a space everyone's scrambling to figure out, and we found a partner that isn't bogged down by politics and stuff that gets in the way of actually trying it the way Tyler wants."
