Kap G And T.I. Discuss Racial Profiling, “La Policia” Remix On CNN
“We’re not calling for the death of anyone, we’re calling the death of our people to end,” T.I. says.
On Wednesday night, Kap G and T.I. joined CNN's Don Lemon for a powerful dissection of the issues raised by "La Policia"—their so-called "angry rap remix"—including the incidences of racial profiling and police brutality that inspired the song. Speaking first, T.I. defends the song's "angry" lyrics, saying: "I think there is a resentment, a undeniable fear law enforcement have for young minorities and it is reflected in their actions. Of course that leads to angry lyrics because our music historically has been a reflection of the circumstances so if you don't like our lyrics you should change the circumstances that inspire them." Kap G seconds this call for change: "I'm not afraid of police, its just you see on the news, everyday life, the things that they're doing is just not good right now," says Kap G, who once described for FADER the real life run-in that bore the song.
