Watch Miley Cyrus And Laura Jane Grace Sing “True Trans Soul Rebel”
As part of the backyard session series to promote Cyrus’ new LGBT and homelessness foundation.
ICYMI, this week Miley Cyrus launched The Happy Hippie Foundation, a charity to raise money for LGBT and homeless youth and other "vulnerable populations." To promote awareness, she's also kicked off a YouTube series of backyard sessions, the latest of which features Against Me! frontwoman Laura Jane Grace. Together, Cyrus and Grace put a super uplifting spin on "True Trans Soul Rebel," from Against Me!'s latest album Transgender Dysphoria Blues. It's great, and you should watch it in the player above.
Cyrus also opened up this week about her own sexuality and gender identity, telling Out magazine: "I didn't want to be a boy...I kind of wanted to be nothing. I don't relate to what people would say defines a girl or a boy, and I think that's what I had to understand: Being a girl isn't what I hate, it's the box that I get put into."
