Next month, jazz pianist Robert Glasper—whose playing permeates Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp A Butterfly—will release a compilation of covers recorded at the Capitol Studios in Hollywood last December. Rounded out by Vicente Archer on bass and Damion Reid on drums, the tracklist includes songs by Lamar, Joni Mitchell, John Legend, Bilal, and a slow-simmering take on Jhené Aiko's "The Worst," which premieres on The FADER today. "It's one of those songs that completely took over the airwaves for a whole year," Glasper tells The FADER. "Most songs like that are annoying, but this song is dope. It lends itself to interpretation because it's so melodic and has a great mood about it!" Covered is out June 16 on Blue Note Records; pre-order it now on iTunes or Amazon.
