Jay Rock hasn't released an album since his debut, Follow Me Home, in 2011. It's a testament to Rock's abilities as a rapper that he has managed to maintain fan interest in the subsequent four years with a string of impressive features on songs from Schoolboy Q, Ty Dolla $ign, YG, and Isaiah Rashad. Most famously, he appeared next to Kendrick Lamar on "Money Trees," and that stellar performance serves as the jumping-off point for Rock's excellent new single, "Money Trees Deuce," which hit the internet last night. The beat, produced by Flippa and J Proof, is smooth and fluid. Rock calmly declares that it's his time to shine: "I told my niggas if you hold me back / From pursuin', ain't no comin' back / Pick your poison, tell me what you do with that."
Earlier this year, TDE CEO Anthony Tiffith tweeted about Rock's long-awaited sophomore album. "TRUST ME @JAYROCK IS COMING," he wrote. "HES WORKING HIS ASS OFF 2 GIVE YALL HIS BEST...BE PATIENT."
