The anticipation for the Drake / Future collaborative mixtape has reached a fever pitch. Twitter howled in fury last night when a clearly fake countdown bearing the names of the rappers reached zero and revealed exactly nothing.
Drake did confirm the tape's existence during his performance at the Music Midtown Festival in Atlanta, saying “Took a break from Views now it’s back to that, and me and Future got a tape before that.” He also dropped a big hint on when the tape may see release: "On Sunday we about to make a motherfucking movie." We'll be listening especially closely to this week's edition of OVO Sound Radio, in case this is a pump fake as well.
Update: Drake has confirmed the mixtape's release on Instagram. It's called What A Time To Be Alive, and will be available this Sunday at 8PM EST on iTunes.
Update Sept 19 4:57PM: A representative for Apple confirmed to The FADER that What A Time To Be Alive will premiere tomorrow at 6PM EST on OVO Sound Radio. After the show, the project will be available on Apple Music and iTunes.
