The English singer Jamie Woon recently reemerged after a long period of silence with "Sharpness." Over the weekend, he debuted a pair of new tracks and also announced the release date of his next album, Making Time. Gilles Peterson played one of the previously-unheard tunes, "Thunder," on his BBC radio show. Woon also shared a video of a live performance of "Message," an elegant track heavily influenced by early '70s soul.
In a statement accompanying his album announcement, Woon noted, "Each project takes as long as it takes. It's quite common for me to start a song and then sit on it for two years before I finish it. I used to feel a lot of guilt about how long things take, but I've made peace with that. Part of the reason this record took so long is that I wanted to feel like a new person, releasing a new record."
Look for Making Time on November 6.
