Nottingham-based singer-songwriter Ady Suleiman—who, you might remember, was one of the musicians featured on Chance the Rapper and The Social Experiment's sprawling Surf—has teamed up with Joey Bada$$ for his breezy new single, "What's The Score." Taken from his upcoming EP of the same name, "What's The Score" is a bongo-assisted, throwback summer jam that shows off all the colors of Suleiman's raspy, cheeky vocal. "My man Ady is in another lane," Joey Bada$$ told The FADER over email. "His voice is something else. It's amazing."
"'What's The Score' is one of the first songs I wrote, and it’s about trying to find out where I stood with a girl," Suleiman added. "I'm a big fan of Joey's and always wanted to do something with him, so when I was looking for a feature for this track he instantly came to mind. When I was in the studio with The Social Experiment, he was working there too, and had come across my stuff and apparently liked it. I clocked him tweeting some of my lyrics once so I reached out to him, sent him the track and asked if he'd be up for getting involved. The video was shot over a weekend in Barcelona with some close mates—it was proper chill, I had a great time shooting, it was important to me to capture something real.” Watch the video above, and get the What's The Score EP now via Suleiman's Sony Music imprint Pemba Records.
