Australian band Jack Ladder & the Dreamlanders have shared a video for "To Keep & To Be Kept," a practical-minded love song that features backing vocals by Sharon Van Etten off their most recent release Playmates. Keeping with the song's throwback feel, the clip was shot with vintage video equipment, so that the colors bleed and the band members glow against the bright white backdrop.
"I’ve always wanted to make a video in a white space, the way they used to make them," Jack Ladder lead singer Tim Rogers explained in an email to The FADER. "I thought the song warranted a no horseshit approach. Now I’ve satisfied that desire I don’t ever want to do it again. It’s very hard on your eyes, all that white. The director had recently acquired a studio's worth of old video cameras from a church, and I thought we could go for that public access feeling. There might not be much to it, but I think it has an honesty. And that’s got to count for something."
