Jack Red, the Chicago young gun who has worked with Chance The Rapper, Vic Mensa, Sir The Baptist, and Wyclef Jean, is here today with a track of his own called "Sometimes." Red lent some vocals to Chance's "Sunday Candy," but there's none of that same über-positivity here. The track opens with some sparse piano and a wounded Red singing, It's the day before my wedding/ but it's you that's on my mind. Oof.
No need to worry though, because Red is actually happily married and told The FADER over email that his blissful union actually informs his work.
"We aren't perfect. We aren't typical," he said. "Being an artist and being a husband is something that a lot of people told me was impossible. But I feel it's given me a platform to promote growth within myself and my marriage. Marriage is hard but when you find that person worth giving your all to, you don't have time to give anything to anyone else."
He has plans for an EP that should be ready by mid 2016. Listen to the track below.
