Producer Dellux and Singer Beckii Power Are Trapped In Toxic Love On "Fool"

The former grime beatmaker goes deep on his latest release.

Producer Dellux, real name Elliott Brussalis, hails from the Welsh city of Newport, and began his career creating backdrops for a grime/metal collective at the age of 16. Four years later, he's branched out solo. Ahead of the scheduled April release of his debut EP comes "Fool," featuring Beckii Power. Sparse and expansive, "Fool" is driven by Power's pitched-down vocals, which unfold achingly over dense beats.

Speaking to The FADER over email, Dellux said: "Beckii Power sent some vocal stems through for this one and it worked! I look at this tune and sometimes I think its too bare and it needs more, but I have to remind myself that it is special because it's stripped back, more about the vibes. To me, the lack of vocals actually make the vocals stand out more and the lack of percussion make the simple 808's resonate."
