Drake's vocals are in. The official mix is mastered. It's go time for DJ Khaled.
Today on Beats1 Radio Zane Lowe unveiled Khaled and Drake's "Get Free" (more mature alt title: "Fuck Me For Free"), the first single off Khaled's forthcoming Epic Records's release Major Key. Listen below, via Apple Music.
A swaggy players anthem, "For Free" finds Drake singing with casual aplomb, Is it just me, or is this just so, so good, I shouldn't have to pay? The track was produced by OVO homies Nineteen85 and Majid Jordan's Jordan Ullman. It also contains samples from Too $hort's "Blow The Whistle" and Akinyele's "Fuck Me For Free."
“You know what I like about this record," Khaled said. "I feel like it’s gonna be every females favorite record as well as every hustler’s favorite record. Meaning as in every hustler gonna sing word for word and every female is gonna sing word for word. Only certain people can make records like that.”
Khaled and Drake have previously collaborated for 2011's "On One" and 2013's "No New Friends," both huge tracks, and he's counting on "Get Free" being another one. They don't want me to have another anthem, Khaled boasts as the track fades out, so I made sure I got another anthem.
After playing the track back three times, Khaled confirmed that he has another big timer collaboration just about ready to drop, a song called "I Got Keys" that features Jay Z and Future. Jay, he said, sounds like '96, Marcy Projects Jigga. "The way he's snapping on there is just legendary," he said.
Addressing Major Key, Khaled revealed that Big Sean, Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, and possibly even Kanye West are locked in to appear on the 12-track project. And if all goes according to plan, there might even be a rare Bryson Tiller appearance on there.
Marjor Key soon come. Listen to "For Free" and DJ Khaled and Zane Lowe's complete interview below.
