Rapper Freddie Gibbs was reportedly taken into custody by French police on Thursday, according to a report from French publication La Depeche du Midi. The arrest took place shortly before Gibbs was due to perform at Le Rex club in Toulouse.
La Depeche reports that the rapper, who has previously collaborated with Madlib and Gucci Mane, is "wanted in connection with a European arrest warrant issued by Austria for a rape allegedly committed in 2015." At press time, Gibbs was still imprisoned in France until a extradition request from Austrian authorities goes through.
As Complex points out, Gibbs cancelled a performance in Vienna, Austria late last month, citing "transportation issues."
Apologies to my fans in Vienna, Austria. Had some transportation issues. Will be back soon.

Following news of the arrest, Gibbs' management told Complex in a statement that "Freddie will be fighting the extradition request as these are nothing more than trumped up charges," while Gibbs' manager Ben Lambert shot out two tweets this morning, saying in no uncertain terms that his client is "100% innocent."
