Today, June 7, would have been Prince's birthday and Tidal have added another 15 of his albums to their platform in order to mark the occasion. As the only streaming service with access to his immense back catalogue, the Jay Z backed company have added Prince solo cuts plus releases from his backing band the New Power Generation (which Prince produced), 1994 record label showcase 1-800-NEW-FUNK, and the Girl 6 soundtrack from 1996.
Entertainment Weekly reports that among the Prince albums now on Tidal are Crystal Ball, the remix EP 1999: The New Master, plus live albums One Nite Alone… Live! and One Nite Alone… The Aftershow: It Ain’t Over. Meanwhile, June 7 has been declared "Prince Day" in the late star's hometown Minnesota with local people urged to wear purple for the occasion.
