The Nightly Show With Larry Wilmore will air its final episode on August 18. According to The New York Times, Comedy Central has canceled the show. The channel's President Kent Alterman told the paper the reasoning behind cancelation was that the show "hasn't resonated."
āEven though weāve given it a year and a half, weāve been hoping against hope that it would start to click with our audience, but it hasnāt happened and weāve havenāt seen evidence of it happening,ā Mr. Alterman said.
The network decided not to renew and negotiate Wilmore's expiring contract, along with those of many staff members. @midnight will take the show's place for now with the channel hoping to have a full-time replacement next year.
