Monica's "So Gone" from her 2003 album After The Storm has been gifted a new lease in life recently off the back of the #SoGoneChallenge. Artists big and small, including Chance The Rapper, have taken on the challenge and laid down bars on the breezy Missy Elliott-produced instrumental.
A clutch of British artists have done it so far — with others suggesting that freestyles may be coming soon. Little Simz went first, turning her gaze to her fans, offering solidarity with outsiders and the misunderstood. James Blake-collaborator Trim was then inspired to share a verse in which he shouted out sidemen, snakes, and other serpents. Bonkaz also got involved and used his freestyle as an open letter to an ex. Check out the "So Gone" remixes below.
Update: August 19, 9:56 a.m. Wretch 32, Ms Banks, and Jay Prince have also dropped their own #SoGoneChallenge entries.
