On July 15 Billboard published a "hitmakers roundtable" in which songwriters and A&R staff behind some of the year's biggest singles got together to discuss the art of making a hit. Republic Records' Wendy Goldstein was part of the interview and the Executive VP and head of urban A&R claimed that The Weeknd is working with Daft Punk. The Weeknd is signed to Republic Records. “Well actually, we have a session coming up in two days with the Weeknd and Daft Punk, and I’ve always been a massive Daft Punk fan,” Goldstein said. “This is the first time I’ve been involved with an artist who’s going to go and work with them.”
Last Wednesday, August 16, The Weeknd posted the picture seen above. It shows two robot action figures sitting on top of a speaker. It is not clear in what capacity the two artists could be working together. The FADER has reached out to representatives for The Weeknd and Daft Punk for clarification.
