Yesterday Jessie Reyez premiered her new single "Figures" on Zane Lowe's Beats 1 radio show and today she's sharing the video. The clip is a minimal one, Reyez sitting at a chair, belting out the emotionally raw tune. Set to just a lone guitar it's all about her aching vocal take, which makes for an arresting visual as she stares down the camera.
In a statement to The FADER speaking on the song's creation, Reyez said,
"I was in Sweden, which was dope, but some shit was going on back home. One day I ended up low key crying on the song. Shy Carter and Preist and the beast were in the room but I wiped the tears quick and just kept going. I'd like to say I felt better after.. I didn't lol but at least something was made from it. Like getting punched in the stomach but deciding to bake a cake."
