Kanye West will be livestreaming his Yeezy Season 4 show from Roosevelt Island at 3 p.m. est Wednesday. Early on Wednesday, Vogue posted an interview with Ye where he discussed the new clothes, where the line is going, it's infamous casting call, and more.
Much is made about how Kanye is refining his line each season, and it is all being done with a purpose. From work on sleeves to the color palette.
“I want to make pieces that can be timeless,” he said. “Pieces that you can pick up out of a vintage store in 20 years and say, ‘Wow, I’m happy I have this.’ ”
The FADER has covered retail store Zara's shameless ripping off of several designers around the world, but Kanye said he had no problem with it.
“I felt that when Zara took the color palettes from Season 2, it was the biggest compliment we could have had,” West said. “It made me a more authentic apparel guy. And by them doing it, it also made the world more beautiful.”
Kanye also confirmed there would be Yeezy kids clothes on the way. He said it was a natural progression because they were making them for his two kids North and Saint.
“And in the process it was just inevitable that we make kids’ clothes. With me and my wife, we have a different perspective on the way that kids swag out. And it’s all just slowly coming together.”
When speaking about the casting call, Kanye said the thousands that showed up didn't "have a problem with it." He also revealed that the concept came from conversations with his collaborator Vanessa Beecroft and that the term multiracial wasn't meant to exclude anyone "least of all black women."
“How do you word the idea that you want all variations of black?” West said. “How do you word that exactly?”
Kanye also confirmed that he and Drake are working on new music for an album together.
We’re just working on music, working on a bunch of music together, just having fun going into the studio. We’re working on an album, so there’s some exciting things coming up soon.”
