Following Monday night's presidential debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, Beats 1 shared a preview of an upcoming interview between R&B legend Mary J. Blige and the Democratic nominee. The clip shows Mary J. Blige singing a song about police violence, while Clinton looks on. Many online reacted to the video and are eagerly awaiting the full interview.
As Billboard points out, the song that Mary J. Blige sings to Hillary Clinton is Bruce Springsteen's "American Skin (41 Shots)." Springsteen wrote the song in 1999, following the murder of Amadou Diallo at the hands of four NYPD officers. The 23-year-old Guinean immigrant was shot at 41 times in his apartment, after reaching for his wallet, which officers believed to be a gun. All of the officers were acquitted in 2000, the The New York Times reports.
