Watch Kaytranada’s Red Bull Music Academy Lecture

Red Bull Music Academy Montreal is in full swing after launching on September 24. The annual hub for emerging musicians from around the world also features a lecture series, and today The FADER is premiering Kaytranada talk, moderated by The FADER's Canada editor Anupa Mistry.

The Montreal producer and 2016 Polaris Music Prize winner covers a lot of ground: a recent record-digging trip to Brazil, coming up in Montreal's piu piu beat-making scene, a moment-by-moment timeline of when his remix of Janet Jackson's "If" blew up the internet, and going from mimicking J Dilla and Madlib beats to finding his own sound.
