This week Wet set off on a monthlong stateside tour in support of their major label debut, Don’t You, released this January and tipped in an intimate FADER profile from last year. Apart from some cute remixes and a spare, rainy-day EP that collects singer-songwriter Kelly Zutrau’s autoharp demos, the trio has been pretty quiet till now, with the release of “The Middle” (above) and “Turn Away” (below).
"These songs are about being stuck in in-between places on a few levels,” the band wrote in an email to The FADER. “Being in the ambiguous place between the end of a relationship and whatever is next. Our country being between presidents and feeling the collective anxiety while everyone waits to see what kind of place this is going to be in the next few years. Being between album cycles right now but still touring on Don't You. Everything feels very up in the air.”
Written and produced in the last couple months explicitly to fight off that wobbly feeling, “The Middle” and “Turn Away” are a welcome return — the first track in particular, which starts down then swings delightfully up out of it own funk. Tour dates are below, with tickets available here.
