On Friday, The Weeknd released his third studio album Starboy via XO and Republic, which includes collaborations with Daft Punk, Lana Del Rey, Kendrick Lamar, and more. There's no debate whether the project will rank high, as its title track is now sitting at No. 3 on the Billboard Top 100, but reports now predict that Starboy will debut at No. 1.
According to Hits Daily Double, The Weeknd's Starboy is expected to sell between 350,000 to 400,000 units within its opening week, about 250,000 of those in traditional album sales. Numbers that high could easily launch the Toronto singer to the top of the charts. However, those lofty projections don't surpass the numbers from The Weeknd's previous album Beauty Behind The Madness, which debuted last year at No. 1 with 412,000 units. If Starboy earns the top spot within its first week, The Weeknd will have released two No. 1 albums within two years.
The album's official chart position and opening sales figures will be available on Sunday, December 4. View these 7 hidden details you might have missed on The Weeknd's Starboy.
