On Sunday night, the Army Corps of Engineers denied a permit for the construction of a key section of the Dakota Access Pipeline, signaling a major victory for the Standing Rock Sioux and other indigenous people, who have been protesting the pipeline's construction for months, as well as activists who have joined them.
At the camp in North Dakota, water protectors celebrated the victory and anticipated the struggles still to come. Artists like Chance the Rapper, Solange, Kehlani, and more also acknowledged the victorious moment, taking to social media to honor those who have stood in opposition to the pipeline.
