When I was in middle school, style started and ended with trying to find jeans that were long enough for my legs. 13-year-old Yoshi, on the other hand, has got his shit figured out. The Sid Vicious-inspired teen from Tokyo started gaining a large following on Instagram about five months ago, when he began posting photos of himself modeling his favorite outfits — the most notable of which are his selfies which he consistently shoots in the same mirrored elevator.
His base layers are almost always a t-shirt and pants or ripped jeans, but his signature accents — slightly-heeled silver or black booties, thick metal chains around his neck and waist, black nails, a look that screams try me — make him insanely captivating. The magic of Yoshi, to me, is not so much in his outfits themselves, but in the unadulterated swagger with which he carries them. Put simply, the kid does not give a fuck. This steez, coupled with his uninhibited obsession with Virgil Abloh's brand Off-White™, might be why he recently gained the attention of Abloh himself, as well as L.A.-based artist gab3 (f.k.a. Uzi).
Of late, Yoshi's taken his looks beyond the elevator, sharing photos and videos from Tokyo nights out on the town with fellow young and style-savvy friends. Peep some of his best looks below, and follow him on Instagram at @_____226_____.
