Kanye West Passed On “Love Is The Beast,” So RØMANS And Avelino Made It Into A Fatalistic Banger
The single drops January 27.
"Love Is The Beast," the new single from RØMANS and Avelino, acknowledges troubled times ahead for a world that's lost its capacity to care. Sound familiar? The song's melodies are driven by humming sine waves, in context resembling flatline monitors, with RØMANS's vocals soaring overhead. Avelino, a London rapper who appeared on BBC 1XTRA's ‘Hot for 2017’ list , condenses a story of struggle and perseverance into a handful of rich bars that add color to the track.
"I made the beat in 2015 for Kanye when he'd just started what would become The Life Of Pablo," RØMANS told The FADER over email. "He took the parts off me and I waited to see if he'd use it for the album. When he didn't, I knew I wanted to release it myself. Avelino is one of my favourite rappers in the U.K. I grew up in the Garage/Grime era so I've been listening to London MC's for a long time and he's definitely one of the best. It's great to see U.K. Hip Hop finally making it's mark around the world."
