Hours after Donald Trump signed an executive order restricting immigration from majority Muslim countries, the Victoria Islamic Center in Houston was burned to the ground. The cause of the fire, which started early Saturday morning, is still under investigation, but the community's GoFundMe campaign to rebuild the mosque has received an outpouring of support.
In just two days, the campaign has raised over $845,000 towards its goal of $850,000. "Our hearts are filled with gratitude for the tremendous support we've received," Omar Rachid wrote on the GoFundMe page. "The outpouring of love, kind words, hugs, helping hands and the financial contributions are examples of the true American Spirit."
