ShitKid is my favorite Nordic punk act. It's all Åsa Söderqvist and her blasé-sounding voice over disheveled, minimalist drums and guitar — I'm envious of how few fucks it sounds like she gives. Her new EP, which she's calling EP 2, naturally, is out March 3 on PNKSLM Recordings, but you can listen to the four relaxed and ramshackle tracks right here and now. "Sugar Town" is like a grunge pop flip of Nancy Sinatra's 1967 pop smash, "Tropics" makes me want to do the twist real slow, and Söderqvist just sounds like she's having the best time when she's whistling and "la-la-la"-ing on "Fat-Mad-N-Gone" and donning her leather jacket on "I Wanna Go To L.A."
According to Söderqvist, EP 2 is made up of: "Two of my favourite and two of my least favourite songs. I hope not everyone will feel the way I do but If they do it's not so bad — and I really like the cover." Press play below.
