Actress Announces New Album AZD, Shares “X22RME” Video
The electronic musician’s new full-length is out April 14 on Ninja Tune.
On April 14, Darren Cunningham a.k.a Actress will return with a new album called AZD (pronounced “Azid”), the electronic artist's follow-up to 2014's influential Ghettoville. A press release calls the album "a new musical system" that is "a chrome aspect journey into a parallel world."
Above, you can watch a video for "X22RME," the album's first single. It's dystopian high-fashion directed by Dan Emmerson, and stars a figure wandering about in a futuristic welder's costume, as well as a handful of models who pose on pedestals in a football stadium. Emmerson said the video was inspired by this quote of Cunningham's: "translucent ambience coming from an incognito slightly on the edge but eternally fixed paradigm."
The album will have its live debut at the Convergence Festival in London on March 24. You can preorder AZD here.
