S4U finesse a low-slung R&B groove with a taste for the darker end of electronic beats. Their silky track “Twice” grabbed my interest last year — I described them as “SWV meets Salem” — and now they’re signed to Lily Allen and Theo Motive’s Bank Holiday Records. Today FADER premieres the first single after they signed that deal — the gripping, narcotic “Isle of Dogs.” Singer Rosita Bonita challenges, with controlled fury, “How are you gonna forget me?” over a knotty electronic beat with a dank bass undercurrent. It would feel so good to dance to in your tightest jeans while ignoring your asshole ex at the club.
“The ‘Isle of Dogs’ lyrics were inspired by realities of digital paranoia,” said Bonita in an email to The FADER. "Love, lust, and loss.” Producer Prinz George explained how S4U's new material differs from their 2016 Brazil EP: “We’re control freaks naturally, so this time around we’ve had the time to obsess over the tiniest detail and really think about what we’re trying to say. This year, we have shows, collaborations, and new music coming up. We’ve hit go on everything and we’re not holding anything back any more.”
