One year ago, Maggie Rogers walked into her class at NYU, played her song "Alaska" for Pharrell, and her life changed. After performances at music festivals and tour dates all over the country, she is sitting back down with Pharrell on his Beats1 radio show, OTHERtone.
"That music was so good. And it was so everything you said it was going to be," said Pharrell, of the first time he heard Maggie Rogers play. The singer talks with Pharrell about her background in music, what her next album will be like, and having to chores before she finishes that album up.
"You just have to be willing to use elements that are not necessarily popular," said Pharrell, reflecting on commentary he made on Rogers' work a year ago.
Rogers' talks about how she wrote a thank you note to Pharrell, which actually inspired one of her following songs, "Dog Years."
