British collective Gotts Street Park have produced material for FADER faves including Kali Uchis, Mabel, Rejjie Snow, and Cosima. On June 16 they will emerge from behind the scenes when they release their debut EP, Volume 1. "Love In Bad Company," with its soulful atmospherics and mix of hip-hop, soul, and jazz, is lifted from the EP and suggests a group who could be the U.K.'s answer to BADBADNOTGOOD. The song features Leeds-based vocalist Dielle and is premiering via The FADER below.
"'Love In Bad Company' came about during a period when we were all playing around the local venues in Leeds for different projects and occasionally together," Josh Crocker of the group explained to The FADER via email. "We came across Dielle singing in one of the few open mic nights in Leeds. We were blown away by her vocal and immediately felt she fitted the vibe of Gotts Street Park. We're keen to shed light on real hard working singers, that do it for the love more than anything. There's an authenticity and passion you get that sometimes isn't there once a singer has been put through a machine. 'Love In Bad Company' was written with me, it's about a personal struggle we both had experience with at the time. It highlights the darker side of relationships and fits into the murky and cathartic world that the rest of the forthcoming EP conjures up."
