In the first major concert since the attack on the Ariana Grande concert on May 22 at the Manchester Arena, another venue in Manchester, the Emirates Old Trafford Cricket Ground sold out. The show featured Manchester natives the Courteneers, as well as The Charlatans, Blossoms and Cabbage. In the video above you can see the crowd singing "Don't Look Back In Anger" by Oasis during the Courteneers set.
During the show, Courteeners frontman Liam Fray told the crowd "We'll rise from the dust, and you'll never prevail. Not against us, because this is our Manchester."
Since the bombing, which killed 22 people, including an eight-year-old girl, the community of Manchester has found strength in their commitment to their community, holding a vigil, overwhelming blood banks with donations, and refusing to let hate be their response. Ariana Grande has pledged to hold a benefit concert in Manchester.
Before the show, instructions were posted on social media accounts associated with the venue and performers, instructing concert goers to follow certain paths for ways to get home after the concert, as well as helpful tips beforehand to ensure a greater level of security.
