After two weeks of social media campaigns calling for the arrest of the men who beat DeAndre Harris in a parking garage in Charlottesville during a white supremacy rally, police have sent out warrants for arrest for Daniel P. Borden, 18, and Alex Michael Ramos, 33.
According to a report by The New York Times, Borden was arrested and is being held in Ohio at the Hamilton County Justice Center in Cincinnati. He is facing several charges, including a felony charge in relation to the assault.
Ramos has not yet been arrested.
The other man arrested was a member of the Klu Klux Klan and was videoed shooting at the feet of counter-protester Corey Long. The video can be seen below. Corey Long was the man in the now-infamous photograph standing next to an elderly man and using a bottle of aerosol spray turned fire spray to fend off white supremacists. According to the same Times report, Richard W. Preston, 52, was arrested and charging with discharging a firearm within a 1,000 feet of a school, which is a felony.
During Charlottesville, a white supremacist yelled "N-gg-r!," fired his gun at a black man, & police did nothing: https://t.co/taFstQrLWW pic.twitter.com/Td45UFSjUK
